The Baltazar Theatre, founded in January 1998, is the one and only professional theatre company in Hungary whose members are mentally challenged actors and actresses.

The Baltazar Theatre Foundation, which runs the theatre company, breaks new ground by putting actors’ disabilities in the background and emphasizing their talent.We create the conditions for disabled people to earn a living from their talent. Our work is based on the ambition that our pieces should not be prepared and presented in social exclusion. The performances should not be judged by a relative standard but by their own values.

PASMI | Projects&Methods

PASMI is a community theatre, but the organisation brings together many professionals from diverse arts disciplines and the social sciences.

Their productions have been toured to communities excluded from the "mainstream arts circuit", communities on the urban periphery and in rural areas, or within prisons and other institutions. Pasmi has worked with many communities, including migrants, people with HIV-AIDS, people with terminal illness, differently-abled people, rural communities, and high risk communities (drug trafficking, youth offenders).The key factor that defines their work with the community is continuity. To ensure this, the Pasmi methodology is based on group work, participation, interaction, collaboration, experiential learning, ethics and confrontational pedagogy.

The Wroclaw Centre of Children's Creativity | Projects&Methods

The Wroclaw Centre for Children’s Creativity was founded in October 1998 by Małgorzata Strońska-Zaremba. Their task is to stimulate the creative potential of each of the children using experienced pedagogues and artists to work with small groups of students. They aim to develop children’s reative personalities by means of theatre, movement, music and fine arts.

One of their project is aimed at children from numerous families who are usually given fewer opportunities to develop their own cultural interests and creativity. Starting the Project they bore in mind Doris Tarlowksi’s words that “There are no children who are not artistically talented. There are only those who have never been granted access to art.” They realised how challenging it is to raise many children. In the face of numerous everyday matters and problems it might be difficult for the parents to think about developing their children’s artistic interests. It is through their workshops that they would like to provide those raising the young generation with some support. For more great projects check out their website.
